- What do you notice first when you look at the work? Why?
I feel confused and intrigued about how the artist is
portraying her meaning to the piece. The artist has used different colours to
make you feel as though you are experiencing what she is trying to get across
to you.
- What kinds of colours do you see? How would you describe
them?
Grey, black and white are the most used colours in the
video. Black and white are shades and give you the emotion of feeling sown or
gloomy.
- What shapes can you see? What kind of edges do the shapes
have?
- Are there lines in the work? If so, what kinds of lines are
they?
Yes, most lines are point and sharp to create the effect
of the mountains, but in some scenes the artist has used soft flowing lines to
create the effect of the boy parts.
- What sort of textures do you see? How would you describe
them?
- What time of day/night is it? How can you tell?
It is daytime, because the sky is light blue and the
eyes when they float into the air create the imaginary picture of the sun and
therefore making it look and feel like daytime.
- What is the overall visual effect or mood of the work?
The overall effect of the work is it creates the mood of
how humans create what happens in society and how we have developed over the
years. It also explains how the body works and how science plays a big role
into finding more about the future.
Analyse: Mentally separate the parts or elements, thinking in terms of
textures, shapes/forms, light/dark or bright/dull colours, types of lines, and
sensory qualities. In this step consider the most significant art principles
that were used in the animation. Describe how the artist used them to organize
the elements.

- How has the artist used colours in the work?
The main colour used in this piece of work was a light
blue colour that always formed the background setting as it created the
illusion as you were in a paradise place. The shades of grey, black and white
were also commonly used.
- What sort of effect do the colours have on the animation?
The colours give the animation the effect of a serial
place, such as a dream paradise or a place of imagination.
- How has the artist used shapes within the work of animation?
The artist has used the shapes such as squares and
rectangles to create the illusion of a modern world and the images of the body
parts created the effect of the way in what each body represents and how they
work to create the human body.
- How have lines been used in the work? Has the artist used
them as an important or dominant part of the work, or do they play a
different roll?
Yes, the mountain ranges have very sharp edges, using
the lines to create a sharp affect and outline them and make them a main part
of the video.
- What role does texture play in the work? Has the artist used
the illusion of texture or has the artist used actual texture? How has
texture been used within the work.
Yes, the mountain ranges almost look real as the texture
of it is very well done and makes it feel like you are actually apart of the
video and you are living the experience.
- How has the artist used light in the work? Is there the
illusion of a scene with lights and shadows, or does the artist use light
and dark values in a more abstract way?
In the artwork I don’t believe that the light really
changes very quickly, mostly all of the video has a bright blue background and
light tones are not used in the video.
- How has the overall visual effect or mood of the work been
achieved by the use of elements of art and principles of design.
The overall mood and visual effect of the work has been
achieved by the texture, colour and lines of the piece, as it all works
together to create the illusion of actually experiencing what is going on and
being able to imagine what your dream world would be like.
Interpretation: An interpretation seeks to explain the
meaning of the work based on what you have learned so far about the animation,
what do you think the artist was trying to say?
- Was the artist making a statement in this work? What was the
Statement?
I believe that the artist was trying to show how that
our world is being run by manmade machinery, this is shown how the different
body parts are made out to be machines.
- What do you think it means?
I think this means that too many things in the world are
run by humans and it is destroying the worlds environment.
- What does it mean to you?
The meaning that I conveyed of this video was that we
needed to save the environment and stop using manmade machines to run and ruin
the environment in which we live in and must sustain for a healthy future.
· How does this relate to you and your life?
This relates to my life as in the fact that I must grow
up in this world and for future generations to come we must leave a healthy and
clean environment.
- What feelings do you have when looking at this animation?
At first I as very confused in what the actual meaning
of the video was, but after watching it several times the video des have a very
meaningful statement in which it is trying to convey it. I have the feelings of
sadness and anger towards what we are doing to pollute this earth and how we
are destroying it for future generations.
- Do elements within the animation represent other
things/symbols?
Yes, in one part of the video it shows to hands and I
believe that it is showing palmistry in one hand and reflexology in the other,
conveying how our body’s work.
- Why do you think that the artist chose to use this style of
animation and make these kinds of artistic decisions?
I believe they used this style of animation to get the
word across to people and also make them realise how we affect the earth in
what we do. As well as showing them about the body and how we are created as
human beings. The artistic decisions she made were bold and making the viewers
more intrigued to find out what the meaning of the video was.
Judgment: After careful
observation, analysis, and interpretation of an animation, you are ready to

Yes, the underlying value meaning that humans are
ruining the environment by using handmade machines and spreading pollution into
the air, creating the earth to become less of value for future generations.
- Do you think that the work has a meaning for others? (Do you
feel that the work communicates an idea, feeling or principle that would
have value for others?
Yes, it helps people realise all over the world of how
we can ruin the environment and how we each contribute to the world in many
ways.
- Does the work lack value or worth? Why do you think this is
so? Could the reason you find the work lacking come from a poor use of the
elements of art?
No, I don’t believe that piece of work lacks value in
any area, it’s just the fact that it is unappealing to people at the start, but
once you get past the weirdness you start to understand the true meaning to the
video.
- Could the subject matter be unappealing, unimaginative, or
repulsive?
I found it very unappealing at the start, but once I
started to look into the finer details, i was really captivated by the art
piece and how the artist used certain elements to create the effects.
- Rather
than seeing the work as being very effective or without total value, does
the work fall somewhere in-between? Do you think that the work is just o.k.?
What do you base this opinion on? The use of elements of art? Lack of
personal expression? The work lacks a major focus? Explore your criticism

I believe that the animation is o.k., however i don’t believe it is the
best animation. I believe however the artist has used the elements of art very
well. The artist has also made the meaning very hard to perceive to the
viewers, so they must be very focused on watching the video and using their
imagination in finding their own meaning. Every person is different and creates
their own ideas in the head, so this is my judgement on what I believe this art
